Aquaculture is a nationally important industry for Norway. The industry is located along the entire coast, and many coastal communities depend on the revenue and employment it provides. Aquaculture supports about 5 000 direct jobs, mainly related to fish farming and fish processing. Read more

The Directorate of Fisheries produces statistics on the Norwegian aquaculture industry. Among other things, the statistics show production figures and the number of licences issued for salmon, trout, cod and other species. Read more

Norway exports seafood to about 150 countries all over the world. In 2009, the value of Norwegian seafood exports totalled NOK 44.7 billion. Exports of farmed seafood amounted to NOK 26 billion. Read more
