The National Institute of Nutrition and Seafood Research has carried out analyses to determine the content of drug residues and other undesirable substances in farmed fish for over a decade. Read more

On behalf of the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, the National Institute of Nutrition and Seafood Research (NIFES) coordinates an annual monitoring programme of feedstuff for fish and other aquatic animals to ensure compliance with Norwegian and EU legislation and to gain knowledge of substances where upper limits have not yet been established. The programme has been in operation since 1996. Read more

The production and harvesting of molluscs is monitored by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority. There are approximately 400 production sites for the production and harvesting of live bivalve molluscs along the Norwegian coast. Read more
